Services

What we install, repair & open

Intercoms first, then locks and doors. A clear price on site before any work.

Video & audio intercom systems

Entry panels, handsets and door releases for apartment buildings, brownstones and small offices.

Full page →

An intercom is the front door of the building, so it gets used all day and abused by weather. We install video and audio systems, replace panels that have died, and swap handsets inside apartments. Before we quote a replacement we check the wiring and the door release, because many 'broken intercoms' are a loose wire or a worn strike.

  • Video and audio entry panels, indoor handsets and monitors
  • Door release strikes and magnetic locks wired to the system
  • Existing wiring reused where it is sound
  • Small buildings and brownstones as well as larger lobbies

Buzzer repair

One apartment not ringing, door will not release, or the whole panel is silent.

Full page →

Buzzers fail one line at a time. We test the panel button, the wire to the apartment, the unit inside and the release at the door, in that order, then replace only the part that stopped working. For old walk-up panels that cannot be repaired any more, we can swap the panel and keep the building's wiring.

  • Single-apartment and whole-building buzzer faults
  • Door release and lobby strike repair
  • Old panels replaced without re-running every wire
  • Written note of which line was fixed

Keypads, fobs & access control

Keypad, fob and card entry for buildings, shops and offices.

Full page →

Keys get copied and lost. Keypads and fobs let you cancel one person's access without touching anyone else's. We install readers and controllers, enroll the first set of fobs, and set the door to hold, release or relock the way you need it. We also repair existing systems that other installers have left behind.

  • Keypad locks, fob readers and card readers
  • Controllers, power supplies and exit buttons
  • Adding or cancelling fobs without changing the whole system
  • Repairing systems that stopped working

24/7 lockouts

Locked out of an apartment, a house or a shop. The line is answered at any hour.

Full page →

We try to open the door without damaging it, starting with the least invasive method. If a lock is seized or has already been damaged, we may need to drill, and we tell you before that happens. Once you are in, we can repair or replace the cylinder on the same visit so the problem does not repeat tomorrow.

  • Apartment, house, shop and office doors
  • Non-destructive entry tried first
  • Damaged cylinders repaired or replaced on the spot
  • ID or proof of residence checked on arrival

Rekeying & lock changes

New apartment, new tenant, lost keys, or a set you never got back from a contractor.

Full page →

Rekeying changes what key works in a lock without replacing the lock. It is the faster, cheaper option when the hardware is still in good shape. We can set several doors to one key, or give each door its own and keep a single owner key that opens all of them.

  • Rekey after a move, a sale or a tenant leaving
  • One key for several doors, or separate keys with an owner key
  • Deadbolt and knob replacement in a matching finish
  • New keys cut on site

High-security locks

Restricted keys that cannot be copied at a corner key shop.

Full page →

The point of a high-security cylinder is control over who can duplicate the key. Blanks are restricted and copies need authorization, which matters on shared entries and on doors that many contractors have touched. These cylinders also resist picking, bumping and drilling better than standard ones.

  • Restricted keyways and registered key cards
  • Resistance to picking, bumping and drilling
  • Retrofits into many existing doors
  • Clear record of who may order copies

Master key systems

One key for the landlord, one key per tenant, and a chart that explains it.

Full page →

A master key system lets the owner or building manager open every door while each tenant's key opens only their own. It saves carrying a ring of fifteen keys and makes tenant changes simple. We design the layout on paper first, then pin the locks to match, so the system can be extended later.

  • Layouts for two-family houses up to larger buildings
  • Common doors, unit doors and basement or roof access
  • Written chart of keys and doors
  • Systems that can be added to later

Door repair & frame reinforcement

Doors that stick, frames that were kicked in, strike plates that no longer hold.

Full page →

A good lock on a weak door does not help much. After a break-in attempt or years of wear, we repair splintered frames, reinforce the strike area, fit longer screws and replace worn latches. The aim is to make the door and the lock work together again.

  • Frame and strike plate repair after forced entry
  • Reinforcement plates and long-screw strikes
  • Latch, hinge and closer adjustments
  • Doors that no longer close or latch properly

Commercial locks & hardware

Shops, studios, offices and workshop doors, including gates and exit devices.

Full page →

Small commercial doors take more use than home doors, so the hardware needs to be sturdier. We service storefront locks, gate cylinders, panic bars and door closers, and we rekey when staff change. For businesses that want records of who has keys, we set up key control and a chart.

  • Storefront and office door locks
  • Roll gate and padlock cylinders
  • Panic bars, exit devices and closers
  • Rekey after staff or tenant changes

Car keys & car lockouts

Keys cut and programmed, and cars opened when the keys are inside.

Full page →

For a simple lockout we open the car without damage. For lost keys we cut and program a replacement when the vehicle allows it. Some makes need extra equipment, so we ask for the year, make and model on the phone first and tell you what is possible.

  • Car lockouts
  • Replacement keys cut on site
  • Key and fob programming where supported
  • Year, make and model checked before we come

Safes

Safes opened, serviced and re-combinated.

Full page →

A forgotten combination or a dead keypad does not have to mean a destroyed safe. We open the common types, service the lock and reset the combination. We ask for proof of ownership, since we open safes for their owners only.

  • Opening and servicing home and office safes
  • Combination and keypad resets
  • Proof of ownership required
  • Advice on which safe fits what you keep

Not sure what you need?

Tell us what the door or panel is doing. We say what we think is wrong and what it costs to fix.
